About Our School

For many years the children of Simooya and the surrounding villages had no access to education in this area. Children who did manage to enter school either travelled long distances to schools away from the area or relocated from their parents to go and live with other relatives who were living near the school in order for them to attend school.

The build and opening of the Simooya Community School in 2015 in Simooya area build with the help Milden Choongo founder of Chibozu Community Trust named after his late Chibozu buried in the area has brought hope for the children of Simooya and those surrounding villages.

There is now hope for the children of Simooya to get a quality education. Since the opening of the school, the number of enrolled children in the school has reached 355 in the year 2017. The school currently has 3 classrooms. The Zambian Government through the Ministry of Education has provided 6 qualified teachers to the school.

At this school, Chibozu Community Trust is committed to empowering the girl child through education. When a girl is educated in Zambia, the cycle of poverty and old traditions is broken and things change in the life of a girl when she grows into a woman.

The children and adults in Zambia are hungry to learn how to use computers and read books but a severe lack of computers and books often stands in their way. Chibozu Community Trust aims to end this hunger and since the opening of the school in Simooya, the charity has brought a number of computers and learning aids from the UK (desktops, laptops and library books).

As a charity working together with the Ministries of Education and Health in Zambia believe that education and health are the driving forces behind eradicating poverty and these two play major role in people’s social and economic growth and well-being.

Chibozu Community Trust by building a school and clinic in the remote area of Simooya which are now accessible to community is bringing education and health care to thousands of children and adults who otherwise would not receive it.
